Anyone who has wanted to ditch some of the harsh chemicals typically turn to the best essential oils for cleaning.
When it comes to essential oils, I am not one of those people who swear up and down by one brand and one brand only. There are so many great ones out there, I do personally tend to use a lot of the Young Living Brand, but that isn’t to say that it’s the best and only brand I use. I actually use a few different ones but I do tend to gravitate towards Young Living.
Also – I am NO EXPERT on essential oils, I’m simply sharing oils I have used and still use. Ones that I consider the best essential oils to have on hand for cleaning a home. Do not take this post for anything more than my experience and opinion. There are affiliate links in this post.
To be completely honest I typically use THIS cleaner for nearly everything anymore. However, there are still oils I keep on hand for cleaning and the ones I’m listing below are what I think and the best essential oils for cleaning are.
Tea Tree Oil
I have used Tea Tree Oil before and, depending on the surface, I still use it. It’s thought to be a natural antibacterial so It was a favorite of mine to use with some water mixed into a spray bottle for a while. However, it is worth noting that if you have a pet that will come into contact with the surface often you should considering using a different oil, like lemon, because tea tree oil is also thought to be toxic to pets.
Lemon
This is a favorite of mine mostly because I love the smell of Lemon! It is also believed to help cleanse surfaces as well as the air when diffused. It can also be used as a deodorizer and is useful when needing to remove any sticky residue in place of a goo-be-gone type product.
Purification Blend
This is my favorite blend – smell wise – because it just makes everything smell clean. It does have tea tree oil in it so keep that in mind with pets. This blend is believed to pretty much do what the name suggest – purify.
Theives
This is one I use for cleaning as well, the blend has quite the combination of oils that are all thought to be powerhouse cleaning oils that can also sanitize and purify. I believe another version of this one would be the On Guard as well.
Lavender
This is an oil that not only smells great, but it can help relax you while it disinfects!
Peppermint
This is an oil that I personallyI love the smell of. Aside from smelling great it also is believed to have antiseptic properties which makes it a perfect candidate for cleaning.
How I use the Best Essential Oils for Cleaning
I would typically fill a spray bottle like this up with water and simply add drops of the essential Oil or Oils I wanted to the bottle. Then off I would go to clean!
