10 Days to a Cleaner Home
Some days will be easier than others, so look at this list more like a spring cleaning checklist and less of an order to get the cleaning done it. Make it work with your schedule and move the days around if you need to! Or you can follow along to the schedule I have set up!

Day 1: Kitchen Counters:
This one is so simple yet so hard to keep up because it’s just so easy to set things on the counter to get them out of the way.
With this one, you are going to clean off all the counters and wipe them down, every inch! Move the coffee pot, knives and anything else you may have set out on your counter for its permanent spot and clean the whole counter. Then put everything back where it is supposed to go. Make sure the items you are putting back are clean too. If you need to wipe down your coffee pot before putting it back then wipe it down. No sense in putting it back dirty!
Day 2: Kitchen Sink & Fridge
Start by emptying your sink and load any dirty dishes into your dishwasher. If you need to unload your dishwasher first then do that! Once it’s empty scrub that sink with all your might! I used to have a stainless-steel sink and I would simply use soap and water to do that. Now I have a white sink that requires a bit more umph to remove some of those stains so I use this and it works like a charm!
Once your sink is clean move on to your fridge. Empty the shelves and wipe them all down. Go through the food before you put it back into the fridge and toss what needs to be tossed and wipe down everything you put back. Here is a more detailed post on how to organize and deep clean a fridge.
Day 3: Bathrooms
This may be a long day depending on how many bathrooms you have and how dirty they actually are. Worst case scenario you break it apart into multiple days!
This is a deep clean of the bathrooms. I typically start by clearing off the bathroom counter and wiping it all down. When you clear off the counter remember to actually put things away where they are supposed to go. I know it’s so much easier to just slide something into a drawer and call it good, but try and put it where it’s actually supposed to be.
Then move onto the mirror, it wasn’t until 5 or 6 months ago that I completely changed how I wash mirrors thanks to watching a you tube video of a cleaning guru. I used to spray the mirrors down and wipe them off with a wash cloth, anyone else been doing it like that their whole lives?
Well, now I use a squeegee. I spray the cleaner onto the mirror and squeegee it off. It works SOOO much better than wiping with a towel! Seriously try it, you can grab a squeegee for pretty cheap on Amazon.
Next make sure to clean the toilet and bathtub/shower, if you have hard water sometimes it can be difficult to get the water stains off of them, in that case try using ‘the works’. Because it really does work at removing those rust stains. I wouldn’t recommend using this on grout though. I personally have never done that for fear of it doing something to the grout. When I’m trying to clean the grout in my shower, I typically just use soap, water and a washcloth.
Last but not least, sweep and mop up those floors, and don’t forget to empty any trash cans!
Day 4: Playroom Organization and Cleanup
This is the room that gets trashed so easily. Obviously, you want the kids to have a good time and play with their toys and sometimes it’s just easier to say ‘we will get that later’ if you’re in a hurry or tired. When I reorganized our playroom, I told the kids they need to decide what toys stay and what ones go. We emptied EVERYTHING out of the bins we use for storage. Then we all methodically went through the toys and put them back.
All the kitchen toys went into the toy kitchen, all the barbie stuff went into a specific bin, all the race car stuff went into another specific bin.
I took the books and re-organized them. I Initially broke them into bord book, hardcover, and paper back. Then I went through and tried to organize by age group a bit so It was easier for both kids to find books they would want to read/look at without pulling out every book!
Finally, I made sure we took at least one full tub of toys out of the Playroom!
Once it’s organized simply wipe off any counters or tops to book cases and vacuum!
Day 5: Dust those Baseboards
This is more of an overall deep clean task for this spring cleaning list, but once it’s done it can change the whole feel of a room!
I typically do a quick once over with my duster to get most of the dust off. Then I grab my bowl, Magic Eraser, towel and some Q-tips and move onto a deeper clean. The Magic Eraser really does work some magic with some of the scuffs and marks that inevitable happen on a baseboard. I use the Q-tips for some of the hard-to-get corners.
Day 6: Detail the Entryway and/or Mudroom
This one is somewhat self-explanatory. Clear off any counters and wipe them down. Put coats and shoes back where they are supposed to be. Wipe down a bench if you have a bench and finally sweep and mop the floors.
Day 7: Strip Your Bed Sheets
This is an easy day! Take all the bed sheets, wash them and then strip the sheets! It’s super easy to do and here is a detailed post on how to do it!
Day 8: Master Bedroom
Start by making your bed, it immediately makes the room look cleaner. Clear off your dressers and put anything that was just sitting there back where it should be then wipe them down. Straighten up any nightstands you have and wipe them down. Lastly vacuum!
Day 9: Closets
This one always feels like quite the task for me mostly because I swear my kids grow out of clothes so fast!
For whatever reason anytime I work on the closets I always start a load of laundry, just to get that moving in the ‘clean’ direction as well.
For kids, start by going through the clothes and pulling what no longer fits to box up.
What I end up doing in my personal closet is switching out seasons. I have a double hanger so I move the old season up top and the new season to the bottom to get to it easier. Sometimes I’ll box up some of the bigger bulky sweaters as well.
Next make sure you tidy up any piles you have and lastly vacuum!
Day 10: Clean the Floors
This is another self-explanatory day. Simply Sweep, Mop, and Vacuum your floors!
