Summer Bucket List for Kids | Simple and Fun Summer Activities

June 28, 2021

It is officially Summer Vacation over in our household! That of course means we need to make our summer bucket list for kids to complete before the summer is over!

We already do the 1,000 hours outside challenge and are almost done with our first year and first 1,000 hours! I would highly recommend trying it out yourself because it has been remarkably beneficial for our family in more ways than one.

After sitting down and thinking about everything I wanted to do with my kids this summer (from a parent perspective) and then asking my kids what they had hoped to do this summer we came up with a great big summer bucket list. With the goal being to have completed it all by the time their new little sister arrives at the end of summer!

Simple and Fun Color mixing Activity for Kids

May 31, 2021

color Mixing Activity

Somedays you just need to have a fun activity to do with your kids.  This Preschool Color Mixing activity is definitely one of them.

My daughter is obsessed with everything artsy and this activity did not disappoint. It’s such a fun twist on the typical “mix the paint” situation!

Keep in mind this activity takes a bit of prep work because you will need to have it freezing the night before you use it, but it was a hit with the kids!

Simple Cleaning Hack for Removing Stains from Granite and Quartz Countertops

May 21, 2021

Removing Stains from Granite

Many of us have been there, you’re cleaning your kitchen counter and realize there’s a stain on it.

So you wipe it off, BUT it doesn’t come off!

Panic starts to set in (especially if you have very white countertops like I do!) and you end up searching all over the internet for removing stains from Granite countertops (or Quartz or whatever countertop you have) but nothing works!

Well look no further! Here is a Cleaning hack for removing stains from granite that came straight from a professional countertop cleaner (yes – they exist)!

This post contains affiliate links.

What is the Hack?

I’m a mom of two young kids, stains seem to be part of my every day and this Hack has yet to fail me!

Kid gets non-washable marker on the counter – no problem.

Cooking stains (like soy sauce!) – no problem

Food coloring – no problem

This Cleaning Hack has saved my counters more times than I can count!

I actually learned about it from a professional Granite Cleaner.  My sister had an issue with her brand-new Kitchen countertop a couple years ago and eventually had to have a professional cleaner come out.  There was a dep set stain on her brand new counter that both the builder and Granite store were unable to remove.  The problem was the sink and fixtures were already installed and the process of replacing the counter would have been quite the undertaking.

The professional cleaner came out to her house and looked at the stain, tried a couple different things and everything he tried had failed to remove the stain he brought out the hail mary of cleaning hacks! It was Liquid Bar Keepers Friend!  Key word being the liquid kind like this one here and NOT the powder!

How to Remove Stains from Granite and Quartz Using this Hack!

Start by putting a dab of the Liquid Bar Keepers Friend on the stain your counter.

Take a wash cloth and get it DAMP (not soaking wet) and start to scrub the stained spot.

Once you get the stain removed take another washcloth, get it wet and wash off the Liquid Bar Keepers Friend.  You don’t want to let it stay there sitting on your counter!

Finally dry, and voila, you have a stain-free counter!

Have you ever tried this cleaning hack for removing stains from Granite and Quartz counters?

Chocolate Chip Banana Bread Recipe | Simple, How-to Make Banana Bread

May 17, 2021

Chocolate Chip Banana Bread Recipe

Ever let your Bananas get overripe? Don’t throw them out! Make this Chocolate Chip Banana Bread Recipe.

I’m legitimately obsessed with banana bread.  I honestly can’t get enough and when I do make it, it doesn’t last long at our house.  My kids like it, my husband likes it, and I like it so it’s usually gone within a day.

This past year or so, if you followed along with me on Instagram you know that when states started shutting down my toddler had some issues that needed to be addressed right away (2 oral surgeries), but with limited spots at doctors’ offices due to the shut down his eating was delayed severely (his therapist put him at over a year behind for his eating delay).  He was in therapy for 8 months and finally caught up, but, one of the things he LOVED was banana bread! We would actually have to use it as a reward during therapy. So, I started making a ton of it, and he’s a kid, so of course I decided to try to add some chocolate chips to it.  I mean, why not?!

That’s how the whole Chocolate Chip Banana Bread thing started at our house.  Now it’s something I literally buy extra bananas for and deliberately let them ger overripe just so we can make this chocolate chip banana bread recipe.

I also like making these Cream Cheese Banana Muffins, so be sure to check them out!

What to Grow in a Garden | Simple List of What I’m Growing in my Garden

May 14, 2021

What to Grow in a Garden

Who is growing a Garden this year? Ever sit down and think about what to grow in a garden while you’re planning it out?

I absolutely love gardening.  Last year we built a garden with 8 raised beds and 4 trellises and this year we expanded to add 4 more raised beds and 2 more trellises.

The DIY trellis was MUCH easier than you would think and I’ll be doing a post on that soon but today I wanted to talk about everything I’m planting in my garden.

If you didn’t know this about me already, I’m actually very interested in Homesteading and I have a whole Instagram account dedicated to it here!

I’m also ridiculously into rare types of heirloom seeds and because of that I have each kind of plant listed (for the garden nerds out there like me!). Otherwise you can see the bolded items below for my list!

DIY Caramel Frappe Recipe | Simple Frozen Carmel Coffeehouse Drink

May 12, 2021

Caramel Frappe Recipe

Who here loves a good copycat recipe? Well this Caramel Frappe Recipe will not disappoint!

*raises both hands* I know I do.

I have a small confession to make, I am obsessed with Frozen Caramel Coffee Drinks!  Whether it’s a Caramel Frappe from McDonalds, or a Frozen Caramel Marvel from Biggby, if it’s frozen coffee with Caramel, I will probably like it!

This recipe is very similar to a Frozen Caramel marvel from Biggby (random fact about me – I used to be barista at Biggby while I was in Law School).  However, it’s a lot closer to a Caramel Frappe recipe because of the coffee I choose to use.

I have fallen in love with making coffee drinks like this at home for a couple reasons, the biggest one being it not only tastes great but it also will save you so much money!
